Employment Equity
We believe that our primary responsibility is to our employees, and this principle guides our policy on social involvement and sponsorship. It is our policy to strive to achieve equity in employment by eliminating and prohibiting any unfair discrimination in any employment policy or practice, identifying practices to be changed so that we will be favourably positioned in terms of the Employment Equity Act and consulting with employees and trade unions regarding analysis of the employment equity plan via employment equity forums. We have an active training programme to improve the skills of our workers, giving preference to previously disadvantaged individuals. Many trainees have already benefited from in-service training offered through our employee training and development programmes.
