Technology innovator Tellumat has notched up impressive wins at home and abroad, with full turnkey delivery of leading technologies and services in the defence, telecoms and electronic manufacturing markets.
The independent and privately-owned South African company is now offering its expertise to emerging markets, often represented in developing countries which aspire to building their own technologies. This offering is able to take many forms such as collaborative development partnerships that promote self-reliance.
Ghaazim Rylands, Head of Sales for Tellumat Defence says: “The South African Defence Industry as a brand has always been and continues to be one that shows the industry’s strong openness to share technology and skills through partnerships”.
Building industry in a manner that is meaningful and sustainable remains a challenge for some and collaboration with willing international experts and partners is still the most effective way to achieve this.
Since 1998, Tellumat has developed nine key product families and amassed project skills in areas including combat identification (IFF), digital microwave radio, communications software, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) links and sub-systems, air defence radar, and GSM mobile and wireless solution systems.
Underlying Tellumat Defence’s deep domain expertise are extensive product development and manufacturing skills, giving effect to its delivery covering the entire product life cycle.
Tellumat Defence offers logistic support services at system and component level including capability transfer, as well as obsolescence management through replacement, re-design and manufacture of components.
The company continues to collaborate with customers to the extent that knowledge of its systems is fully transferred which allows these customers and partners to expand their local capabilities and solutions.
Tellumat Defence through its participation at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA 2011) exhibition as well as the upcoming Defence Services Asia (DSA 2012) show in April next year aims to highlight the degree to which Tellumat Defence is able to collaborate and share with customers and partners.
“We are constantly looking for cooperative partnerships with like-minded organisations to address common defence or security requirements” says Rylands. This desired collaboration should bring about medium to long term sustainability by jointly offering the outcomes to third-party customers.
“South-East Asia is a very good fit for us and we can offer good value to the region. For one thing, our ethos of collaborative partnerships benefits non-aligned nations that wish to attain a degree of independence,” says Brian Ferguson, Marketing Manager for Tellumat Defence.
Tellumat Defence’s prime initiative is geared at finding strong local partners for its existing unmanned sub-systems, IFF and rugged display technologies and products in Malaysia.
Tellumat Defence will be on stand C1072 at LIMA 2011, which will be held from the 06-10 December in Langkawi, Malaysia.
